Help for authors
Build an Author Hub
Your Hub is your public author page on byline.pub. It brings together the books, links, events, and AT Protocol content you choose to surface, then gives readers one stable place to return to.
Set it up in this order
- 1
Complete the reader-facing basics
Start with your profile and at least one book. Your profile supplies the name, photo, bio, and genres in the Hub masthead. A book gives readers something concrete to find, and a primary buy link gives the Hub a clear next step.
Edit profile - 2
Open Your hub and check readiness
The Hub home shows the small set of items that make the page useful: profile, book, primary buy link, and an optional live or event setup. You can build the whole page before your author application is approved.
Open Your hub - 3
Choose the page structure
Modules control what readers can see and, for most modules, their order. The hero is always first. Byline picks, if you leave them on, always stay after your own content. Use the module controls to choose a featured book, highlight standard.site writing, and decide whether calendar events appear automatically.
Manage modules - 4
Connect reader destinations
Add platforms for the places where you post, stream, gather readers, or accept support. These links power the follow and share area, community links, newsletters, livestream suggestions, and the support module. Each URL is kept as you entered it.
Add platforms - 5
Preview, then announce
Use Preview to check your assembled Hub before sharing it. When you have a book or event ready, Announce prepares a draft for your own Bluesky composer. Byline never posts on your behalf.

What readers see
The top of the page introduces you and your current work. The Author feed can combine your public Bluesky posts, standard.site articles, and public calendar events in time order. Bluesky replies and likes use the counts returned by the public author feed.
The right rail can show a featured book and an upcoming event. If there is no event in the next 30 days, it says so rather than showing stale event information. Your shelf, writing, events, links, and support sections live below the summary.
Events and live appearances
Create an AMA, livestream, meetup, release, or office-hours event from Events and live. Save a draft while details are in motion, then schedule it when readers can act on it. A scheduled event can be published to your own public calendar record, where compatible apps can read it too.
Use the canonical event page for RSVP or watching. You can also add a stream link, a community link, an image with alt text, and a replay once an event is complete.
Manage events and liveWriting and outside sources
The Writing and publications module reads your public standard.site documents. Choose one, two, or three showcase articles, or let the latest articles lead. If a document has a feature image, Byline uses it. Articles without one stay cleanly text-led.
The Hub only presents adapters that have reader-safe titles, dates, links, and summaries. It does not turn arbitrary record data into a public feed item.
Featured links and launch banners
Featured links and launch banners are Pro presentation tools. A launch banner can use one of your books, a short description, an optional campaign ribbon, and custom button text. Choose Collector’s Edition, Reading Room Notice, or Jacket Reveal to change the presentation without copying campaign data.
If your plan changes, Byline hides these presentation tools but keeps their settings for a later return to Pro.
Open Featured & launchWhen does a Hub go live?
During beta, you can set up and preview your Hub at any time. It becomes public automatically when your author application is approved and the Hub feature is on for your account. There is no second publish or approval step. You can set the Hub public or unlisted, and you can pause it whenever you need to. A paused Hub returns a not-found page to readers until you resume it.
