Help and support

Use this page to find the current byline.pub workflows. The product is in beta, so these guides describe what exists today.

For authors

Account, author profile, publishing, and analytics workflows.

Use your AT Protocol handle to connect byline.pub. The sign-in flow lets byline.pub write only the byline records you choose to publish.

Go to sign in

Create your author profile

Add your byline display name, bio, pen names, genres, and author links. Your profile is saved to your own repository (as a pub.byline.profile record), so it is yours to keep.

Edit profile

Apply to publish

A normal account can browse and share. Publishing book records needs a manual author review during beta.

Apply as author

Add and manage books

Create or edit book records with title, status, cover, descriptions, genres, tags, buy and support links, ISBNs, identifiers, and editions.

Manage books

Import a backlist

Have a list of ISBNs? Paste or upload them, let byline look each one up on Open Library, then review and edit every title before publishing in one batch.

How importing works

Read analytics

See byline.pub views, profile views, and buy-link clicks for your own records. Counts are aggregate and scoped to activity on byline.pub.

View analytics

Delete byline data

Remove your byline.pub profile and indexed book records from your PDS, then clear byline.pub local index and application state.

Open settings

For readers

Public browsing, author pages, sharing, and the open schema.

Find books

Browse recent books, search by title, filter by genre, and switch between grid and list views.

Browse books

Find authors

Browse author pages, read bios, follow author links, and find each author by handle when one is available.

Browse authors

Share a page

Book and author pages include a share action. Signed-in users can post a Bluesky share card from their own account.

Understand the lexicons

byline.pub publishes open AT Protocol lexicons for author, book, comment, and series records.

Beta notes

  • Author approval is manual during beta.
  • Draft save is parked. A draft-status book is still a published AT Protocol record.
  • Author photo upload, reports, support inboxes, and richer admin operations are planned work.
  • Edition-level links are preserved when present, but the authoring form manages work-level links today.
