Create an account

To publish on byline.pub you sign in with an AT Protocol account, the same identity that works across the open social web. Pick a provider to create one. byline.pub does not collect passwords or create the account for you.

Create the account at the provider, then come back to the Sign in tab and connect it. byline.pub only ever asks you to sign in; it never sees your password.

What byline.pub is

List your books once and readers and apps can find them, attached to your own handle. byline.pub helps readers discover your work. You keep your identity and your records, and the AT Protocol underneath keeps them portable.

  • The record is yours

A book you publish is a signed record in your own repository. byline.pub indexes it, it does not hold the original.

  • Core publishing is free

Listing your profile and your books in the directory costs nothing.

  • Your links are left alone

byline.pub does not rewrite or wrap the buy and author links you add. They point where you set them.

  • No account, no password

byline.pub never creates an account for you and never sees your password. You connect an AT Protocol account you already hold.

  • Works with your own website

Keep your website as your storefront. byline.pub adds an open catalogue record that readers and apps can find, alongside your site.

The pub.byline lexicon is published CC0, so any AT Protocol tool can read and write these records, not just byline.pub.
